Avo good day

31 / 07 / 2020

Delicious, fashionable and oh-so good for you. Happy Birthday to the avocado...

A guacing good time

We know, we know. We thought it too, as much as we love it… ‘now this is getting ridiculous, a day dedicated to avocado!’

Of course there is. And why not?

But actually, we’re here for it. Because, this Mexican fruit, yes it is a fruit, is delicious. Today marks it’s birthday. yes, we’re laughing too

Can you remember when someone said 'Millennials could afford to buy a house if they stopped buying avocado on toast?'

This small but mighty green delight is a staple ingredient for brunching, feeding our souls, creating glowing skin and making our Instagrams pop.

Avocado bars, avocado cafes, avocado-shaped anything and everythang, including tattoos. It really is the most versatile and used fruit on our social media pages.

Question is, do we even know much about it?

Avocado is a high-fat food!

In fact, 77% of avocado calories are made from fat, making it one of the fattiest plant foods in existence. Don't panic - they don’t just contain any fat. The majority of the fat in avocado is oleic acid — a monounsaturated fatty acid that is also the major component of olive oil and believed to be responsible for some of its health benefits. So, when we say ‘fats’, we don’t mean the same fat from unhealthy takeaways.

It’s so versatile, whether you like stuffed, on toast, guacamole, a replacement for mayo, salads, soup, sushi, smoothies and icecream. It can do it all. Just make sure it’s ripe enough. There's nothing more disappointing than an unripe avo, agree?

It's always an avocado on toast kinda day

Why? We've just told you why. wink

Not only do we snap it and eat it. It can feed our skin and hair. It's now an active ingredient in face masks. No shock there really. Cue the avo pjs and facemark.

Remember, avocado isn't just for brunch or vegans... it's all we've avo wanted. Sorry, not sorry!
