This September our Moda, Hove Central and Swimmr event brought Olympic training to Brighton Beach.
It’s not everyday we get a Team GB medallist in the neighbourhood, but when we were introduced to Swimmr and silver Olympic medallist Dan Wallce there was only one thing for it… we were going for a dip!
We rounded up our residents, community and partners for a special sea swim on Brighton Beach, bringing everyone together to celebrate community through one of the city’s favourite pastimes, whilst promoting our new partnership.
The event bought together over 30 different representatives from the city’s community, including members of Brighton Phoenix athletics and triathlon club; members of the local press, Rottingdean community swimmers; residents of Moda, Hove Central and representatives from SUP in Sussex Community Group. Representatives from local businesses also joined the swim and sauna session, including Bison Beer, Reformer Collective, Rox Gym, Brighton Yoga and others.
After a warm-up session on the beach, Dan, who is also the co-founder of online swim training programme Swimmr, led the swim which was attended by locals and fanatics alike. Under Dan’s expert guidance, focusing on methods to enhance safety and to advance their technique we tackled the sea swim.
Post swim, it was time to get warm with a sauna session at Beachbox Spa, followed by a bite to eat at Bison Beach Bar at neighbouring Sea Lanes.
The event was a great community get together and kickstarted Moda’s new wellbeing partnership with Swimmr, offering preferential access to its swim training and technique-based courses. A partnership made in heaven where community and health and wellbeing is no.1!
Thanks to our event sponsors – Red Equipment, the UK paddleboard and water sports equipment company, who supplied paddleboards and changing robes for attendees to use.
Through our partnership with Swimmr, Moda residents can receive free access to Swimmr’s Efficiency Challenge and 20% off all future courses. Head to the MyModa app for details!
"At Swimmr, we know that every swimmer — whether beginner or advanced — asks the same question: How do I improve my technique and take my performance to the next level? Finding the right guidance can be tough, which is why we built Swimmr, an online platform dedicated to helping swimmers improve."
