New restaurant and bar openings not to be missed in Manchester

04 / 09 / 2019

If there’s something food related happening in the city, you can bet your bottom dollar we’ll be all over it. Here's our round-up of the must-eats. Thank us later.

Bistrotheque

If there’s something food related happening in the city, you can bet your bottom dollar we’ll be all over it. So, we thought it was only fair to share a list of our favourite new restaurants in Manchester. Thank us later.

Six By Nico

This new restaurant has taken the city by storm. The six course taster menu changes every six weeks. As you can imagine, bookings fill up fast. Launching with chef Nico Simone’s take on the Great British Chippy, the menu has now switched over to Viva La Mexico. We've obviously signed up to try it.

Bistrotheque

This is one we cannot wait to open. The critically-acclaimed restaurant is set to open its doors later this month in Manchester’s historic old railway warehouse on the edge of the Northern Quarter – a stone’s throw away from Moda, Angel Gardens.

Boasting stunning views, that overlook the Piccadilly Basin. Bistrotheque is at the heart of the redeveloped Cultureplex project, at the Ducie Street Warehouse. You’ll also find a healthy coffee counter ran by Klatch and a new cinema. Cultureplex is set to be the perfect spot for a chilled weekend in the city. Taking you from a laid-back mid-morning brunch, through to an elegant evening meal.

To whet your appetite, check out some of the delicious dishes, from Bistrotheque’s Bethnal Green restaurant

Wilderness Bar & Kitchen

If you’re ever in need of some easy-going fun in Manchester then Crazy Pedro’s and Junkyard Golf are for you. Naturally, we were really excited to hear the team behind them were opening a new bar and restaurant just around the corner from us.

Wilderness Bar + Kitchen just opened on Thomas Street. It’s seriously cool. The second Wilderness to open, with the first being a popular record store and café in Withington. This new restaurant has three floors of fresh quality food, with a side of cocktails (on tap).

On the ground floor you’ll find an all-day space, which serves up beers and house-made highball cocktails that are genuinely delicious and brimming with fresh summery flavours. Head up to the first floor for a more intimate eating and drinking experience, where the bar is the centre of attention.

But probably the most exciting part… although sadly not open to members of the public, is the basement. This is where the magic happens. The ‘Innovation Room’ provides a small dining space for chefs and bartenders to get their creative on and work up some new flavours, so we can reap the benefits.

Cocoa Cabana

Newly opened Cocoa Cabana has made all our dreams come true. Combining cocktails with chocolate afternoon tea. Yes, you read this correctly… definitely one for those with a sweet tooth.

Chocolates in an array of colours line countertops and espresso martinis are the go-to choice of cocktails at this Ancoats delight. Think artisan, additive-free chocolates, homemade cakes. The ultimate afternoon tea with a twist.

The Instagram haven has marble countertops, neon slogans and is decked out with pretty velvet furniture, perfect for that mid-Saturday morning selfie check-in. The best bit? The owners snoozing sausage dog will regularly make an appearance – yes this really is heaven. lets out squeal of delight
