Bringing the Moodboard to Life

04 / 04 / 2024

When designing our Moda neighbourhoods, we always have our residents in mind.

Hear from our in-house Interior Designer, Alice, about how we approach bringing the moodboard to life! So, what’s the process?

We create fictitious persona for each apartment so that the design choices we make are realistic and considered. Once we’ve come up with our fictitious friends, we create a mood board for each room, looking at colours, soft furnishings and styling pieces to bring the apartment to life. Their imagined lifestyles and interests help us choose the little things that make a big difference. We add personality into the apartments, like the shoes next to the bed, artwork on the wall and the choice of hand soap in their bathroom.

Take Anita, a Ballet Instructor and her childhood friend Laura, a Junior Doctor who have recently moved into one of our popular two bed sharer. They enjoy having friends over for dinner when they can make their work patterns fit in and Anita is a keen baker which Laura really embraces after a long shift!

There’s also David, who has lived with Moda for several years in a studio apartment. He is a professional chef at a local Pan Asian restaurant and works six days a week, but on his one day off, he loves to make the most of a poker movie night with his partner and friends. In David’s apartment, you might find Yotam Ottolenghi’s latest cookbook, an array of spices from all over the world and a pack of cards on his coffee table at the ready.

Finally, we have Carlo and Lucia with their young son Eddie and dog Rocco. They love getting out into the countryside on a winter weekend and in summer Carlo braves the British coastal waves on his surfboard. They haven’t quite grasped the British cuisine yet and spend their evenings back to their roots cooking all things Italian - they love a big family feast.

We realise that everyone has different tastes and opinions, and aim to reflect this within the spaces we create. We use these differing personalities and lifestyles to create points of difference. This might even inform which apartment we show you on the day, depending on your interests!

So that’s how we bring the moodboard to life by, quite literally, adding life to these spaces with our imaginary friends!
