Spring in Leeds: what’s new near New York Square

16 / 04 / 2026

Spring has landed in Leeds, and with it comes even more reasons to get out and make the most of the city.

One of the best things about living at New York Square is having Leeds on your doorstep. Whether it’s your go-to coffee spot, a new dinner plan or a last-minute culture fix, there’s always something happening nearby, and this season is no different.

Leeds has already seen some exciting new openings this year. Salon Madre has arrived at Wellington Place, bringing bold Mexican flavours and a lively late-night feel to the city centre, while Pollini’s Pizza has opened on Lands Lane with its much-loved New York-style slices. And for coffee lovers, there’s more to come too, with North Star Coffee Roasters set to open two more city centre sites this June, including one in Victoria Quarter.

There’s plenty to add to your spring plans beyond food and drink too. Leeds Playhouse has Black is the Color of my Voice coming up on 24 and 25 April, while exhibitions across the city are giving people even more reasons to explore. Music Leeds Us: Celebrating 60 Years of Music in Leeds is running at Leeds City Museum until late June, and Plant Dreaming is on at Leeds Art Gallery until 19 April.

If you’re after something fun to fill a weekend, the Royal Armouries’ Medieval Easter runs until 19 April, and the wider spring calendar in Leeds is packed with events, performances and exhibitions right across the city.

From new openings to cultural favourites, spring is a great time to enjoy everything Leeds has to offer, and at New York Square, you’re perfectly placed to do exactly that.
